With Tripps Travel Network’s help, visitors can see the best of San Antonio. A few favorites are the Alamo, River Walk, and for families SeaWorld and Six Flags.
The Alamo is on the east side of the city and is without a doubt the most famous building in Texas. During the Texan war of independence, the 187 defenders who entrenched themselves in the Alamo were killed by the Mexican Army. The former mission is open to visitors and sees more than 2.5 million people come through each year.
Tripps Travel Network highly recommends a visit (or two!) to the River Walk. This popular stretch along the San Antonio River is a favorite for visitors and locals. The stretch of pedestrian friendly walkways have easy access to lots of restaurants, shops, and hotels. There are also boat tours to see the area from a different angle.
San Fernando Cathedral is one of the oldest cathedrals in the US and is famous because the heroes of the Alamo are buried here. The outer walls are original construction, built in 1750 by settlers from the Canary Islands and form the sanctuary for the cathedral.
A favorite among families is the San Antonio Botanical Garden. When it opened in 1980, it began featuring a variety of quiet areas and uniquely designed gardens. There is a garden for the blind, one for children, a rose garden, and a butterfly garden.
